A Day At the Beach With A Walk on Water
If you know me personally, you know my life revolves around helping others. I chose to go into nursing because I had a calling to help others during hard times in their life. I choose emergency because I want to be the first hand to help. I want to be there to offer encouraging words, to see the first steps towards getting better, I want to be the comforting presence in a families toughest times.
A Walk On Water came into my life 5 years ago. 5 years of a pure passion for a surf therapy who takes kids with disabilities surfing. When I look at these kids, I don’t see disabilities. I see the most amazing kids who have a blast in the water. These kids are courageous, smart, funny, and determined. They teach as all so much.
Surf therapy has became a major part of my life. I remember the first event at Hollister Ranch. I had knee surgery a week before and was still on crutches. I remember telling them that I would be happy to check people in and yet I ended up on the beach, playing with the kids while hobbling around. These kids showed me that anything was possible.
AWOW is a huge part of my life. I was at every event while pregnant. I remember our last event in November, I was almost 8.5 months pregnant and I didn’t want to leave. I kept saying maybe this would throw me into labor. AWOW is my life. I can’t wait to share this special charity with Harley. I want her to see that helping others is the best way to get satisfaction.
