A blog about raising a precious little girl while being a full time nursing student

Only 6 Days Apart

Most people say we are crazy. They say that having a 4 month old is hard enough. Not only do I have a 4 month old baby and attend full time nursing school, I wanted more. So what did we add to our ever growing family? We added a 4 month old German shepherd puppy named Maple! Maple is perfect, she was born 11/24/16 while Harley was born 11/30/16. I’m hoping that Harley will grow up with the puppy and learn respect and a responsibility for animals. I want her to realize that puppies are meant to be loved, and treated nicely. That puppies will give her unconditional love. Maple is meant to be a comfort to our family. A ear to listen and not talk back, a cuddle monster and a push to exercise more. Maple, we are so excited that you joined our family! We can’t wait to see you grow!

If you are crazy like us, puppies are no big deal! Let me know what kind of puppy you have in the comments. Follow us on instagram: missharleyrose0

  • I had my daughter in September 2016 and in January my husband insisted that he needed a hunting dog. So we now have a lab/vizzula puppy (she was born in December 2016). He wanted a German shepherd but we didn’t have any luck finding one. I can tell you that the potty training days and the hard winter that we just had I felt like I had two babies! Beautiful dog btw.

  • You are so brave! Kids do learn so much from growing up with a dog. My kids will miss out on the benefits… I just see so many friendly family dogs causing major injuries to kids at work that I can’t bring myself to do it, even though I know the numbers of problems are actually very small! I have many friends with young kids and puppies who tell me it is beautiful seeing them grow up together. Wishing you all the best with your young active family 🙂

  • We have a GSD lab mix, and she is unbelievably good with our daughter, despite the fact that she was still a puppy herself when we brought the baby home. They are best buddies! I definitely don’t think you’re crazy for doing it. I would make the same decision over and over again!
